Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down Unit position with oncology/chemo experience highly preferred and a Michigan RN license required.
Details
- General Medical/Oncology Step Down Unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes general medical and oncology step down patients requiring specialized care
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6, with chemo admissions reducing assignment ratios accordingly
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required; weekends are assigned by the manager/scheduler with remaining days available for self-scheduling
- Floating required to other med/surg areas, including an acute unit and ER, to care for med/surg patients
- No on-call responsibilities
- Documents using Epic
- Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- ONCC or ONS certification highly preferred; pending ONS certification will be accepted
- ONC certification highly preferred
- Minimum 2 years of PCU/Step Down experience required
- Proficiency in administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs required
- Epic EMR experience required
Additional Information
- Oncology and chemotherapy experience is highly preferred for this role
- Support staff available when ratios flex higher; charge RN is not typically included in patient assignments
- Must be available and fully on-site for the first two weeks of the assignment
- No RTO approved for the July 4th holiday
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with a specific request
- Any RTO requests made after offer acceptance must be discussed directly with the on-site manager
