Description
American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP certification, 1+ year of acute experience, and MBSS/VFSS proficiency for a 3-week acute inpatient hospital contract in Boise, Idaho.
Details
- Acute inpatient hospital setting with additional coverage for outpatient Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS) and Video Fluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS)
- Patient caseload of 8–10 patients per day across neurologic (CVA, MS, Parkinson's, Guillain-Barré), general medical, orthopedic, cardiac, and oncology populations
- Team of 2–5 therapists on shift daily, with a manager present on each shift and rehab aides available for support
- Schedule is 4x10-hour shifts per day, 7:30am–6:00pm
- 2 weekend days required per month; additional weekend shifts available if preferred
- No holiday coverage required
- Epic EMR used in this position
- Floating to MBSS/VFSS outpatient area required in addition to acute inpatient coverage
Requirements
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required
- Active and unrestricted Idaho SLP state license required; license required if applicable
- At least 1 year of acute care experience as a licensed CCC-SLP
- Proficiency in performing MBSS/VFSS required
- Ability to evaluate and treat both dysphagia and cognitive-communication deficits
- Current BLS certification required
- Epic EMR experience
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- Evaluate and treat patients with dysphagia and cognitive-communication deficits across neurologic, general medical, orthopedic, cardiac, and oncology diagnoses
- Perform MBSS and VFSS; FEES (fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing) is available but not required
- Orientation spans the first 3–5 days and includes system orientation, documentation training, and hospital and department-specific orientation
- Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) experience is a plus but not required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
- Any color scrubs or business casual attire accepted
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Former permanent employees of this facility must have been away for at least 1 year before applying for a travel assignment
