Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Oncology unit at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, with chemotherapy administration experience required.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
- Oncology unit with an average daily census of 24 patients across 24 beds
- Day shift, 3x12 schedule (7:15–18:45)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within scope is required, including to affiliate hospitals nearby
- No on-call responsibilities
- Charting via Cerner
- Parking is available at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
- Scrubs may be any solid color
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
- Active BLS required; AHA or Red Cross accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
- Required chemotherapy skills: administration (IV push, continuous infusion, and oral), body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, cytotoxic spill management/disposal, chemotherapy monitoring, and recognition/communication of abnormal lab values
- Required IV/infusion skills: port access and care, central line blood draw and care, PICC line care, starting IVs, blood/blood product administration, and administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, and antivirals
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- RTO of 5 days or fewer is preferred; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Schedule change requests beyond the standard 3x12 arrangement can be discussed with the manager
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required
