Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract in Oregon, requiring active OR licensure and a minimum of 3 years of ED experience.

Details

• Emergency Department (ED) setting within a hospital environment
• Handles a wide range of cases from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies, including code blue response and rapid response calls
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Travelers are floated to other departments before core staff when qualified to perform patient care

Requirements

• Active Oregon (OR) RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Minimum 3 years of ED nursing experience required
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• Strong clinical skills including triage, patient assessment, medication administration, IV therapy, wound care, and splinting
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects up to 25 lbs
• Must be able to stand and walk continuously and work 12-hour shifts in high-stress environments

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include triaging patients by acuity, administering medications and treatments per physician orders, continuously monitoring vital signs, and responding to emergent situations
• Works collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
• Responsible for accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR)
• Provides patient and family education regarding diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care
• Subject to frequent exposure to infection, contagious disease, and hazardous materials; occasional exposure to combative patients
• If the assignment extends beyond 6 months, CRASE training will be required
• BSN and specialty certifications beyond those required are preferred
• Holiday coverage required, as the ED operates 24/7
