Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma teaching-designated Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• 24-bed unit with average daily census of 24
• Fast-paced observation unit treating cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8; CNA ratio 1:12
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week, shift start time 6:45pm
• Shift times 0645-1915 and 1845-0715 on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Low census call possible, with call back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, on-site/virtual hospitalist, 24/7 intensivist, and remote telemetry monitoring with tele tech
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Minimum 6 months EPIC EMR experience required
• Core Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), tube/drain care, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide Med/Surg Tele nursing care across a variety of cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses
• Travelers will work 75% of designated holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Navy scrub color required
