Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Med-Surg/Oncology position requiring at least 1 year of PCU and oncology experience, with night shift availability and ACLS/BLS certifications.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a mixed PCU, Oncology, and Med-Surg unit with 28 beds
• Patient population includes adults with oncology and trauma diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 (PCU) and 1:5 (Med-Surg) on days; 1:5–6 on nights
• Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs may be required to titrate insulin and cardizem
• Specialized equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Lyko lifts, and ventilators; hemodynamic monitoring including CVP, A-line, Swan, and EV-1000 available
• EMR: Epic (recent Epic experience within 6 months is noted during orientation planning)
• 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling unit
• Floating required to same level of care (Med-Surg and PCU units)

Requirements

• Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS (AHA); ONS/ONCC certification also required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU and oncology nursing experience required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Valid driver's license required for consideration (used to verify 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered)

Additional Information

• A pass/fail open-book exam is administered during orientation; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass
• Orientation is approximately 2 days (12 hours)
• Scrub color: Navy blue
• Unit support includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, RN case managers, social workers, educators, and dieticians
• Competencies in ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000) can be trained in real time
• RTO of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be disclosed upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to contract termination
