Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I Trauma Center position requiring independent proficiency in trauma, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular cases with circulating skills and on-call availability.
Details
- Work in the Operating Room of a large, Level I Trauma Center academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds
- Trauma cases include craniotomy, vascular, endo-vascular, and general trauma procedures
- Must be able to circulate; scrub experience is highly preferred
- Experience with robotics and orthopedic cases is strongly preferred
- Charting is performed in Epic
- Schedule is 3x12-hour shifts on a rotating day, evening, and night rotation based on unit needs
- Schedules are issued in 6-week blocks and distributed 2 weeks in advance; travelers are generally placed on night shifts for approximately one week per 4-week block
- On-call is required, with a maximum of 2 on-call shifts per week; on-call shifts are typically scheduled on already-assigned days but may occasionally fall on separate days
- Weekend shifts are required
Requirements
- Active RN license (Standard or Compact); pending license accepted
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
- Must be independent with all trauma cases, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular procedures
- Must be able to circulate; scrub experience highly preferred
- Prior experience at a large Trauma Center setting required
- Clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions
- Flu vaccination required; declinations are not accepted
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
- Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
- RTO of up to 7 days may be approved automatically; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval
- Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
- Scrub color: royal blue
- Parking is available at a cost of approximately $125/month
- 1 professional reference is required for consideration
