Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 1 year of ICU experience.

Details

  • 13-week contract in the ICU of a 562-bed Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
  • Primary trauma/burn ICU with medical and cardiac overflow patients
  • Average daily census of 10 patients at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Charting via Cerner (experience required)
  • On-call responsibilities are required for this position
  • Floating is required; travelers are the first to float — to other ICUs (Medical, Neuro, Cardiac), IMC, and general floors on modified teams as needed
  • Every other weekend required
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in hand at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
  • Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
  • Certifications preferred: NIHSS, TNCC, and TNS
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
  • Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in core ICU skills including arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, ventilator management, vasopressor/cardiac drip titration, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experience with CVVHD/CRRT preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • SSN and date of birth required for consideration
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include managing complex, critically ill trauma, burn, medical, and cardiac patients in a high-acuity ICU environment
  • Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO requests ideally should not exceed 5 days; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
  • All requested time off must be disclosed upfront at time of consideration
  • Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
  • Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of this health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Scrubs: any solid color
  • Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
  • Online modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment; the first day of assignment is a virtual at-home day
