Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU position requiring at least 2 years of PACU experience, Pre-Op experience, and on-call availability in a 23-bed unit covering both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery.

Details

• PACU setting in a hospital environment, covering both Phase 1 (15 beds) and Phase 2 (8 beds) recovery
• Common cases include general surgery, orthopedic, urology, GYN, plastic surgery, cataracts, and spine
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
• One clinical technician is available per area
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Schedule is 4x9-hour shifts per week, 40 hours per week
• On-call requirement of 2–3 shifts per 6-week period, with a 45-minute call response time requirement
• On-call shifts include a mix of weekday and weekend coverage
• Holiday on-call required if hired during a holiday period (1 holiday per 6-week period)
• Floating required to Pre-Op only
• Occasional use of respiratory equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPap) in rare cases where patients are difficult to wake or require an ICU bed
• RNs are required to read rhythm strips
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• Pre-Op experience required
• Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment but covers staff during lunches; an RN unit supervisor is also available
• ICU patients recover in the PACU only when no ICU beds are available
• 3-day unit-specific orientation provided
• Navy blue scrubs required
• All requested time off (RTO) should be disclosed prior to consideration
