Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU position requiring at least 2 years of PACU experience, Pre-Op experience, and on-call availability in a 23-bed unit covering both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery.
Details
- PACU setting in a hospital environment, covering both Phase 1 (15 beds) and Phase 2 (8 beds) recovery
- Common cases include general surgery, orthopedic, urology, GYN, plastic surgery, cataracts, and spine
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- One clinical technician is available per area
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- Schedule is 4x9-hour shifts per week, 40 hours per week
- On-call requirement of 2–3 shifts per 6-week period, with a 45-minute call response time requirement
- On-call shifts include a mix of weekday and weekend coverage
- Holiday on-call required if hired during a holiday period (1 holiday per 6-week period)
- Floating required to Pre-Op only
- Occasional use of respiratory equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPap) in rare cases where patients are difficult to wake or require an ICU bed
- RNs are required to read rhythm strips
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active VA or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Pre-Op experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
Additional Information
- Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment but covers staff during lunches; an RN unit supervisor is also available
- ICU patients recover in the PACU only when no ICU beds are available
- 3-day unit-specific orientation provided
- Navy blue scrubs required
- All requested time off (RTO) should be disclosed prior to consideration
