Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department position at a STEMI and Stroke Certified community hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent ED experience and active MO or Compact RN license.

• Combined adult and pediatric General Emergency Department in a 240-bed community hospital with 32 ED rooms
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (11:00–23:30)
• Every third weekend required, covering a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts across Saint Luke's 6-week scheduling period (minimum 8 weekend shifts per period)
• No on-call requirements
• Floating may be required to all Saint Luke's Health System Metro EDs as needed
• Epic EMR experience required
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Pediatric cases include abdominal pain, asthma, burns, head injury, seizures, sickle cell crisis, respiratory infections, and more
• Psychiatric cases include acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, psychiatric holds, and managing violent behavior
• Advanced skills required: arterial line management, central line care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, intubation, ventilated patients, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation and paralytics
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: 12-lead EKG acquisition, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction management
• Neurological cases include CVA management
• Procedural sedation administration preferred
• Near-drowning experience preferred

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license — both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or Compact equivalent) must be in hand at time of consideration, as floating between facilities may be required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent ED specialty experience required
• Must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty ED experience within the past 12 months, with no gap in employment greater than 90 days in the past year
• Epic EMR experience required
• 2 professional references required: one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN — all must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include triage, isolation precautions, splint application and management, charge RN assignments, and holiday shift coverage as needed
• Navy scrubs required
• Pre-employment drug screening required; a diluted or positive result that cannot be cleared will result in cancellation and a 6-month waiting period before reapplying
• Completion of online compliance modules is required prior to start
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the contract period; RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration
• Local candidates (within 75 miles of the facility) are not accepted
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• Block scheduling is not available
