Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology Nurse Navigator RN for an outpatient Cancer Center role requiring ONS/ONCC certification and a minimum of 3 years of oncology experience.
Details
- Outpatient Cancer Center setting at a new, state-of-the-art facility
- Nurse Navigator role focused on managing care plans for patients receiving ongoing oncology treatment
- Administrative-based workload coordinating oncology patient care rather than bedside nursing
- Day shift schedule: 5x8-hour shifts, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- No weekend requirements
- No on-call requirements
- No floating between like units required; however, all travelers may be expected to float between facilities within the state
- Epic EMR — experience required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Current BLS certification required
- ONS/ONCC (Chemotherapy) certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of oncology nursing experience required (candidates with 2 years may be considered)
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Experience with chemotherapy administration, including IV, continuous infusion, and oral routes
- Experience with care and management of ports and central/implanted lines
- Experience managing oncologic emergencies (e.g., ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression)
- Skills in IV therapy/infusions and administration of blood and blood products
- Clinical knowledge of neutropenic precautions, symptom management, and oncology-related complications
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local and travel candidates are both accepted for this position
- 26-week contract commitment required
- Former permanent employees of this health system must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler, and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
- Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility (location and dates) during the consideration process
- Minimal RTO is strongly preferred; excessive RTO requests may hinder or delay the placement process
- RTO or scheduling requests should be communicated upfront, as post-offer requests may be denied
