Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical position specializing in post-operative colorectal surgery care, with a minimum of 18 months of experience and Cerner EMR proficiency required.
Details
- Work setting is a Medical-Surgical unit (3 North) within a large academic hospital environment
- Unit specializes in post-operative care of colorectal surgery patients
- Patient ratio is 1:5–6
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
- Every other weekend is required, with the possibility of consecutive weekends based on operational needs
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided
- Cerner EMR charting is required
- Travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at both the primary and an affiliate hospital
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required; both AHA and RQI formats are accepted
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of RN experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required
- Must be fit-tested for an N95 mask or trained on PAPR device use for negative-airflow room patients
- COVID vaccination is required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with appropriate documentation
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO can be auto-approved
- Former permanent or PRN employees of this health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- If a contracted shift is missed, it will be made up within the same pay period or added to the end of the contract, depending on FTE status
