Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele (Ortho) position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in Columbia, SC, requiring strong orthopedic experience, charge nurse experience, and Epic EMR proficiency.

Details

• Work in a Med/Surg Ortho unit within a large regional academic medical center designated as a Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 641 licensed beds
• Orthopedic patient population with telemetry monitoring responsibilities
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Floating to other Med/Surg Tele units or campuses is required as needed; floating is limited to units where competencies are documented
• Charting performed in Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license — SC or Compact state license required
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Med/Surg or Ortho unit within a large healthcare facility
• Strong orthopedic nursing experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the contracted campus to be eligible for this position (night shift rule applies)
• Driver's license and Social Security Number required for consideration

Additional Information

• This position is primarily based in a Med/Surg Ortho unit but is classified as Med/Surg Tele due to floating requirements to tele units
• An EKG exam must be completed during onboarding
• The facility is a regional teaching medical center offering advanced specialty programs including cardiac care, stroke, and vascular services, as well as an Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit
• Two professional references are required for consideration
• Candidates residing 50–99.9 miles from the campus are eligible but subject to a reduced pay rate; full rate applies at 100+ miles
