Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of experience and acute care and trauma experience for an adult rehabilitation services unit at an academic medical center in Oklahoma City, OK.

• Adult Rehab Services unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Day shift, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 40 hours per week
• Acute care and trauma patient population
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Oklahoma OT license required (license required if applicable)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required
• Minimum 1 year of OT experience required
• Acute care and trauma experience required
• Proficiency in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities
• Strong interpersonal and patient communication skills
• Basic computer skills required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Interpret physician referrals and select appropriate standardized evaluation procedures
• Evaluate patients across areas including independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, and psychosocial skills
• Develop individualized treatment plans with short- and long-term goals, treatment frequency, and duration
• Design and fabricate adaptive equipment and orthotic devices, and provide instruction in joint protection and body mechanics
• Support discharge planning by ordering equipment and educating patients and families on home therapy programs
• May supervise OT students
• Workers who have previously completed a contract are eligible for one extension, for a total of 26 weeks; a 6-month separation period is required before beginning a new contract
• Compliance requirements are strictly enforced — candidates should be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance of an offer
