Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac Cath Lab position in Portland, ME, requiring at least 2 years of Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology experience and a ME or Compact RN license.
Details
- Located in an Interventional Services unit within a 70-bed hospital in Portland, ME
- Unit consists of 5 bays and 1 procedure room
- Serves inpatient, outpatient, and ED patient populations
- Performs cardiac cath, angiograms, and IR procedures including paracentesis, thoracentesis, and nephrostomy tubes
- Involves administration of sedation and recovery of sedation patients, as well as arterial access recovery
- Charting via Cerner; Pyxis medication dispensing system in use
- Day shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, rotating Monday through Friday
- Weekend call rotation: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday and Sunday, once per month
- On-call required: 1 night per week from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, plus rotating weekend call
- No floating required
- 13-week contract, 36 hours per week
Requirements
- Active RN license — ME or Compact license required
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology
- Experience with cardiac cath, angiograms, and IR procedures (paracentesis, thoracentesis, nephrostomy tubes)
- Proficiency in sedation administration and recovery of sedation patients
- Arterial access recovery experience required
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Full SSN required for consideration
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Two references within the past year required for consideration — at least one from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge Nurse (peer references not accepted)
- Copies of all certifications required for consideration
- Flu vaccination required for employment eligibility
- Permanent address must be 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME (489 State St, Bangor, ME 04401) to be eligible
- Must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- An RN supervisor is on the floor and will oversee the traveler
- Orientation length is dependent on the candidate's experience level
- All RTO requests require manager approval
- Holiday coverage expectations will be discussed during the interview
- Procedural scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking is available on-site
- A flu vaccination is required; medical exemptions only are accepted and must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance for committee review
- Manager interviews are required as part of the hiring process
