Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring orthopedic experience and Epic proficiency, working 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced hospital setting.
Details
- Fast-paced Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes orthopedic, neuro spine, general med/surg, and post-surgical cases
- Average daily census of 37 patients across 39 beds
- Patient ratio is typically 5-6:1, with rare flex up to 7:1 in extreme cases
- COVID-positive patients are cared for on all units (not cohorted) unless they require ICU-level care
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Block scheduling option available (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
- Every other weekend required; any weekend call-off must be made up on a weekend
- Floating required to other Med/Surg units within the facility based on census needs
- 13-week contracts; longer extensions may be available
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active RN license in NC or a compact state currently in hand
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Orthopedic nursing experience is required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Current certifications: BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Proficient in IV insertion and telemetry monitoring
- Must pass an EKG test prior to start
Additional Information
- Nurses are expected to stay on top of pain management for orthopedic and spine patients
- Preferred qualifications include ACLS, charge nurse experience, and Level I Trauma experience
- No RTO (time off requests) are permitted after booking; any call-offs or unapproved time off could result in contract cancellation
- Holiday RTO cannot be approved
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they have Epic experience
- Local candidates are accepted
