Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position at a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and prior travel nursing experience.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- 13-week contract
- Float pool covering all acute care and telemetry units, including Behavioral Health and Respite
- Patient population includes Ortho, Neuro/Stroke, and Cardiac Telemetry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
- Shifts may be split into an 8-hour block in one area and a 4-hour block in another, requiring strong time management skills
- Every other weekend required; travelers are asked to remain flexible with scheduling
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available
- Epic EMR required
- High volume of peripheral nerve catheter cases, particularly on ortho floors
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact license (with applicable requirements) currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- At least 2 travel assignments beyond initial hospital experience required
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
- Experience with Ortho, Neuro/Stroke, and Cardiac Telemetry required
- Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- COVID vaccination and booster required — no exceptions
- Must pass a fill-in-the-blank telemetry test at orientation (pass/fail)
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
- Former UW staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 18 months before being considered as a traveler
- RTO cannot be requested during orientation week and should be kept to a minimum — no scheduling requests outside of approved RTO can be accommodated
- Solid-color scrubs are acceptable; light blue scrubs are provided on the unit
- Onsite parking is available at a daily cost; offsite parking (~1 mile away) is available at $10/day with a 10-minute shuttle (weekdays only, 5 AM–10 PM; not available nights, weekends, or holidays)
