Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (STICU) position requiring a GA or compact RN license, with a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and familiarity with high-acuity surgical and neuro critical care.
Details
- 20-bed Surgical ICU (STICU) in an acute care hospital setting
- High-acuity patient population including neurological patients (herniation, brain drains), ortho trauma with traction, post-op open-heart CABG, open abdomens, and cardiovascular device patients
- Cardiovascular device experience relevant: intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella, EKOS
- CRRT managed by RNs at bedside for a high volume of renal patients
- ECMO program planned to launch during the assignment period
- Medical ICU overflow patients may be admitted to the unit when sister units are at capacity
- Standard patient ratio is 2:1, with 1:1 ratios common for higher-acuity patients
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts
- Charting via MEDITECH
- Cancellation policy allows up to 12 hours every 2 weeks
Requirements
- Active GA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ICU or STICU experience required
- Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center strongly preferred
- Experience with specialized cardiovascular devices (IABP, Impella, EKOS) preferred
- CRRT experience preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates who have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Any time-off requests must be submitted and approved prior to the start of the assignment
- 17-week contract with a 16-hour orientation period
