Description
American Traveler is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of acute care Echo experience, including pediatric scanning, to join a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital's Noninvasive Cardiology department.
Details
- Noninvasive Cardiology department at a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Department includes 2 Echo suites and 2 TEE rooms; travel to bedside for inpatient studies is expected
- Average patient volume of 40–60 per day through the department
- Patient population includes pediatric, adult, inpatient, and outpatient cases supporting a large structural heart program
- Common diagnoses and procedures include CHF, pre/post Cath, pre/post CABG, pre/post Watchman, pre/post TAVR, PFOs, bubble studies, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, stroke, ER cases, TEEs, and stress tests
- EMR: Epic; PACS: Philips Cardiovascular/ISCV/IntelliSpace; equipment includes Philips and GE
- 10-hour day shifts, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM, 40 hours per week
- No weekend rotation required at this time
- One night call shift per week from end of shift until 7:00 AM the following morning, typically on a weekday but could fall on a weekend; 30-minute callback response required
- On-call coverage required for up to 50% of major holidays per contract; department is open on holiday eves
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care Echo experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- Active BLS, ARDMS-RDS, or RDCS certification required
- Must be comfortable performing pediatric echocardiograms — this is a hard requirement
- Experience with pericardiocentesis assistance and accurate EF measurements
- License required if applicable
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Perform transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, stress tests, bubble studies, and bedside echo for inpatients
- Will complete preliminary findings in a modifiable report for physician review and confirmation
- Fetal scan and stress test experience preferred; candidates without this experience may be submitted for manager review
- Candidates comfortable with orienting new hires are preferred
- Department is supported by fellow Echo Techs, a daytime manager/supervisor, Central Transport, Cardiologists, and a Rapid Response/Code Team
- Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) followed by the remainder of the first week in the department, with buddy call during orientation
- Schedule is a modified self-schedule made in 6-week increments; requested days off are considered but subject to manager approval
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved per contract
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
- Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies; the same rate applies for local travelers at this Georgia facility
- Black scrubs required; free parking available
