Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Progressive Care Unit position in Alabama, requiring ACLS and BLS certifications with strong cardiac monitoring skills and every-other-weekend availability.

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown) in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac and telemetry-monitored patients requiring progressive care
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Required to float to Med/Surg units
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Prior experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, and PCU/Stepdown settings required

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact license accepted; pending license considered for submission
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in telemetry, med/surg, or PCU/stepdown settings
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
• Ability to start IVs, manage Heparin protocols, and manage cardiac drips (no titration) required
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are eligible but at a different pay rate
• RTO requests may not exceed 7 days for the duration of the assignment
• Hospital-provided housing is available — shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; gender-specific units; no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility
• The facility is located in a remote area; on-site housing is strongly recommended
• The facility provides flight reimbursement (economy class only) for travel to and from assignment; a detailed flight and luggage receipt is required for reimbursement processing
• Flight itinerary must be submitted one week prior to the start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival
