Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer for a 13-week EKG Lab assignment requiring proficiency in echocardiography and Doppler imaging.

Details

  • Work setting is a hospital EKG Lab
  • Day shift schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Performs 2-dimensional, color Doppler, and Doppler echocardiograms
  • Performs stress and dobutamine echocardiograms requiring advanced interpretation skills
  • Performs several portable studies per day requiring mobilization of equipment
  • Uses EPIC for charting

Requirements

  • Current BLS certification (AHA preferred; some facilities require AHA only)
  • License required if applicable
  • Proficient in non-imaging continuous Doppler techniques for diagnosing abnormal pathologies
  • Skilled in diagnosing wall motion abnormalities, left ventricular regional wall abnormalities, pericardial and pleural effusion, stenotic and regurgitant lesions, and congenital abnormalities
  • Ability to review and interpret test results and communicate preliminary findings to referring physicians or house officers
  • Experience reviewing patient charts to obtain clinical history relevant to cardiac examinations

  • Explains procedures to patients and positions them appropriately for cardiac ultrasound examinations
  • Records and reviews test results for accuracy and prepares detailed test reports
  • Utilizes ancillary devices such as video recorders and transducers to create permanent examination records
  • Records, calculates, and plots control values on technical instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Maintains testing rooms in a clean and orderly condition, including equipment cleaning and supply stocking
  • Flu vaccination required with no religious or medical exemptions accepted
  • Local candidates residing within 60 miles of Boston, MA are accepted at a reduced rate
