Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) position requiring 2 years of critical care experience and proficiency with advanced pediatric procedures on a night shift schedule.
Details
- Work in a 6-bed PICU within a hospital setting
- Pediatric critical care patient population including ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, and pre/post-op cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 with an average daily census of 2–4 patients
- Performs or assists with breathing treatments, chest tube setup and care, CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency vents and oscillators, procedural sedation, and RSI
- Manages trach care, ventilators, epidural and PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, Port-A-Cath access, syringe pumps, wound vacs, and traction/halo/pin care
- Performs CVP monitoring, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and blood/blood product administration
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Floating required to NICU or other units within the nurse's skill set
- Epic EMR — experience required
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or valid compact RN license required
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- NRP certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of PICU or pediatric critical care experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- SSN, DOB, and a valid driver's license required for consideration
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required for consideration
Additional Information
- Orientation is provided at the start of the assignment
- Scrubs of any color are acceptable
- Travelers are expected to float between all facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
- Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler — this applies to non-Swedish Providence facilities only; former Swedish facility employees are not eligible
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Scheduling is self-directed by permanent staff first; travelers fill remaining unit needs
- Holiday coverage is expected; refusal to work assigned holidays is not acceptable
