Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital in Indiana, requiring NIHSS certification and a minimum of 18 months of neuro ICU experience.
Details
- Position is based in a Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCC) at a Level 1 Trauma academic teaching hospital
- Patient population includes neuro critical care, as well as medical, surgical, and trauma ICU patients
- Staffing ratio is 1:2-3
- Shift is nights, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Travelers must be available to work 50% of weekends during their contract based on unit needs
- Floating may be required to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at the assigned hospital or a nearby affiliate hospital
- Cerner EMR — experience required
- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license in hand — required for consideration
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA or RQI accepted), ACLS (AHA or RQI accepted), and NIHSS — all must be current
- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, ICP monitoring, and IV starts
- Cerner charting experience required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited institution required
- Candidates must be comfortable precepting or having students shadow them while on assignment
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be approved for the assignment
- If a contracted shift is missed, it must be made up within the pay period or will be added to the end of the contract
- As a teaching facility, travelers may be asked to precept or have students assigned to shadow them
