Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU/PCU Float position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic experience and the ability to work across all ICU and PCU units.
Details
- Float position covering all ICU and PCU units within a large acute care teaching hospital
- Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric) with Magnet designation for nursing excellence
- ICU patient ratio averages 2:1; PCU patient ratio averages 5:1
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Floating may occur up to every 4 hours, with staffing needs re-evaluated throughout the shift
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- Epic EMR experience required
- Clinical skills required include arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insulin protocol adherence, and wound care with drains or wound vacs
Requirements
- Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; a pending license is accepted only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience preferred
- Prior experience at a large Level I or Level II trauma facility required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidate must be fully comfortable floating across all ICU and PCU unit types throughout the shift
- One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
- All RTO, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
