Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position requiring TNCC and CPI certification, with a night shift schedule and prior large ED or trauma center experience strongly preferred.
Details
- Work in a 32-bed Emergency Department that can flex up to 10 additional hallway beds, plus 5 recliner chairs
- High-volume ED serving all ages with a wide range of medical complaints, including daily trauma from nearby major highways (MVAs, GSWs, stabbings, mass casualty events), stroke alerts, STEMIs, behavioral holds, and occasional pediatric holds awaiting transfer
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5
- Epic EHR is used; proficiency within the last year is very strongly preferred
- Equipment includes Alaris pumps, Panda warmers, Hamilton ventilators, Autopulse, GlideScope, AmbuScope, ultrasound, EKG machine, bladder scanner, cast cutter, Philips monitoring, and Omnicell
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- One major holiday required
Requirements
- Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI De-escalation Training
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Experience in a large ED or trauma center strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Epic EHR within the last year is very strongly preferred
- Copy of nursing diploma required for consideration
- Proof of address required for consideration (Driver's License, Voter Registration Card, Federal Tax Return, Military Form DD-2058, or W-2)
- Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
- 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
- Nursys license verification required for consideration
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
- Serve as the primary point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments
- Collaborate with outside agencies including law enforcement, EMS, local crisis teams, forensics, and transfer centers
- Support staff per shift includes 2–5 techs, a unit secretary, and potential LPN support by zone
- Must pass an EKG exam during orientation (two attempts permitted); a study guide will be provided
- Interviews are conducted via ITO (interview-to-offer) format
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
