Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Stepdown position in New York requiring ACLS, strong cardiac and IV skills, and a minimum of 2 years of current experience.

Details

  • Med/Surg Stepdown unit in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes cardiac and stroke patients requiring stepdown-level monitoring
  • Strong IV skills and experience managing cardiac drips required
  • Experience reading EKG strips and performing all types of wound care is essential
  • Floating to Med/Surg is required
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required

Requirements

  • Active New York State (NYS) RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required prior to start
  • Minimum 2 years of current Med/Surg Stepdown nursing experience required
  • Proficiency with IV insertion and management, cardiac drips, EKG interpretation, and wound care
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • Two supervisor references required for consideration — one within the past year and one within the past two years

Additional Information

  • An additional 8 hours of CEUs must be completed as part of facility orientation
  • Skills checklist for the Med/Surg Stepdown specialty, completed within the past year, is required for consideration
