Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position in an outpatient surgery center setting, requiring a minimum of 3 years of PACU experience with a strong ophthalmology background.

Details

• Outpatient surgery center located adjacent to an acute care hospital main facility
• PACU unit covering both Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Ophthalmology surgical patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift schedule, 8-hour shifts (8:00–16:30), 5 days per week
• No weekend requirements
• Post-shift on-call required from 18:00–21:00; frequency varies based on department need
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• Travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Epic EMR required (note: Meditech is listed as the facility charting system — Epic experience is required per job requirements)

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 3 years of PACU experience required; first-time travelers must have a minimum of 5 years of PACU experience
• Phase I and Phase II PACU experience required
• Ophthalmology experience required — this is a hard requirement and non-negotiable
• Epic EMR experience required
• At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Active professional license required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have a minimum of 5 years of PACU experience
• Scheduling requests related to secondary employment will not be considered
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may be denied
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local pay rate
• Royal blue scrubs required for RNs
