Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Neuro Stepdown position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Oregon, requiring 2 years of PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience and an active OR RN license.
Details
- Neuro Stepdown unit at a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital
- Patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, status epilepticus, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery cases
- Specialized procedures include post-thrombolytic care
- Specialized equipment includes Hamilton C1 ventilators, external ventricular devices, and lumbar drains
- Patient ratio is 1:3
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30), 36 hours per week
- Variable weekend requirement
- Floating is required within the Acute Care division and may include a nearby affiliate hospital — refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
- No on-call requirement
- Charting is performed in Epic (experience preferred but not required)
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restriction
Requirements
- Active Oregon (OR) RN license required — pending license accepted if application has been submitted and received by the licensing board to qualify for the 90-day license exemption
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- 6 hours of stroke continuing education (CEs) required
- Minimum 2 years of PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown experience required
- Ability to titrate vasoactive drips and provide care for ventilated patients required
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Two manager or supervisor references from the past 24 months required — charge RN references are not acceptable
- COVID vaccination proof required — no exemptions accepted
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include neurological and neurosurgical patient care, vasoactive medication management, and care coordination within the Neuro Stepdown unit
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who are former employees or previous travelers at this facility must provide a reference from their supervising manager there
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been gone for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days for a 13-week contract or 7 days for an 18-week contract — any approved time beyond 5 days must be added to the end of the contract to complete a full 13-week assignment
- All RTO requests must be disclosed at the time of submission and may not exceed 2 weeks
- Solid-color scrubs of any color are required — no printed scrubs (scrubs are provided)
- Parking is available for a daily fee; public transportation is highly encouraged
