Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position at an acute care hospital in Colorado, requiring active CO or compact RN licensure and a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience.
Details
- 8-bed LDRP unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population consists primarily of low-risk obstetric patients >36 weeks gestation, with approximately 35 deliveries per month
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including oxytocin and occasional magnesium sulfate
- RNs read their own fetal monitor strips using Philips monitors; OBIX is the EFM system used
- CPAP is commonly used for newborns due to high elevation; venting is rare and typically only while awaiting transfer
- Unit staffing includes 1 OB tech per shift; charge RN takes a patient assignment
- OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia are not in-house 24/7 — anesthesia is available only when an epidural is running
- EMR is Epic
- 12-hour night shifts
- Self-scheduling is available
- 2–3 full weekends required per 6-week period
- 2–3 on-call shifts required per 6-week period
- Floating to other units as helping hands is required but rare
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active CO RN license or active Compact (NLC) RN license — pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
- Current certifications required (no pending certifications accepted): BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and STABLE
- Experience reading fetal monitor strips independently
- Experience titrating obstetric drips (oxytocin, magnesium sulfate)
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Valid driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must permanently reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
Additional Information
- Unit orientation consists of 2 shifts
- Clinicians must be on-site in Colorado for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
- Blue scrubs are provided by the facility
- 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday coverage required
- AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines are followed on this unit
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible — those previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
