Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring PICC line management and IV start experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
- Medical/Surgical unit
- Patient ratio is typically lower but may reach up to 1:7 at maximum capacity
- Trach and laryngectomy patients are part of the patient population
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Every other weekend required; if approved time off falls on a scheduled weekend, an additional makeup weekend will be required
- Floating is required for all travelers, both within the hospital and to nearby affiliate facilities
- No on-call requirement
- Block scheduling is not available
- Charting is done in Cerner (experience preferred)
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
Requirements
- Active Illinois (IL) RN license currently in hand is required
- Current BLS certification required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards are not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
- PICC line management experience required
- Proficiency in starting IVs required
- Must be willing to care for trach and laryngectomy patients (experience not required, but willingness to learn is mandatory)
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have been permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Candidate must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Only 1 winter holiday off may be requested per contract
- RTO is subject to manager approval based on unit scheduling needs
- Scrubs may be any solid color
- Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required
