Details

  • Acute care setting at a Level 1 Trauma facility (Level 2 experience will also be considered)
  • Cardiac Pre and Post unit (CVOR PACU) serving Cardiac Cath Lab recovery patients under general anesthesia and conscious sedation
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • 12-hour day shifts, three shifts per week; no block scheduling
  • 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period; holiday coverage based on unit needs
  • Philips telemetry monitoring used on the unit
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
  • No floating required
  • 13-week assignment

Requirements

  • Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
  • ICU experience required
  • Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) prior to offer confirmation
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license used to verify permanent address
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Natural hair color required; no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven (for fit test compliance)
  • Must have personal vehicle for transportation

Additional Information

  • Provide pre- and post-procedure nursing care to cardiac patients recovering from cath lab procedures involving general anesthesia and conscious sedation
  • Hospital-provided scrubs (blue)
  • 2-day floor-specific orientation provided
  • On Day 1 of orientation, RNs must pass a hands-on SIMs Lab skills assessment covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes — this is a pass/fail evaluation; breaking sterile field may result in termination
  • Additional orientation content covers lifts, restraints, and wound care (educational, not pass/fail)
  • RNs given two attempts to pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam; failure on the second attempt results in a 6-month DNU status with the CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento regions
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside firms may be considered
  • Local candidates are not accepted for travel rates; the 50-mile radius rule applies to eligibility for this position
