Description
American Traveler is hiring a Float RN for a hospital-based position in Waterloo, IA, requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg, Stepdown, or Telemetry experience and the ability to float to multiple units including BH, ED, and ICU.
Details
- Float position within a 130-bed facility, with assignment based on unit need
- Required to float to Behavioral Health (BH), Emergency Department (ED), ICU, and post-procedural areas as needed
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Telemetry monitoring responsibilities, including rhythm strips and dysrhythmia reads
- Common drips include heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week may be accommodated upon request)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR; experience required
- Holiday rotation required
Requirements
- Active IA RN license or active Compact/Multi-state RN license required
- Current AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required
- De-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA) required; may be obtained during onboarding if not already held
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred; may be obtained during onboarding
- Minimum 24 months of experience in Med/Surg, Stepdown, Telemetry, or Med/Surg Telemetry required
- Proficiency with telemetry-related duties including EKG/ECG interpretation, rhythm strips, and dysrhythmia reads required
- Experience with drips: heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Med/Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele-specific skills checklist required
- Valid driver's license required
- Supervisory reference or performance evaluation from within the past 24 months preferred
Additional Information
- First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of nursing experience; hospital or medical center experience is prioritized
- Must pass a Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a score of 80% or higher during onboarding
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- Candidates who were employed by this facility within the past 12 months may not be eligible for consideration
