Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro unit position at a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and availability for night shifts.
Details
- 26-bed Med/Surg Neuro unit at a Level 1 Trauma Center and major teaching hospital (COTH member) with 855 total staffed beds
- Patient population includes CVA, TBI, epidural and subdural hematoma, seizure disorder, spinal cord injuries and disorders, and an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
- Patient ratio of 1:4-5
- Night shift (7p-7a) with 3x12 or 4x12 schedule options (36hr or 48hr contract)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Charting in Cerner
- Short-term acute care setting
- Blocked schedule requests can be accommodated
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending RN license may be considered
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; candidates within 75–99 miles may be submitted for facility approval

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees of this health system are not eligible to return as a traveler until 2 years after their last day of permanent employment
- Flu vaccine is required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); exemptions are only accepted with documented allergy confirmed by an allergist or physician — candidates who refuse without medical documentation will not be considered during this window
- COVID vaccine is not required
- Orientation is held every other week on Thursdays
- Scrub color: Royal Blue or White (RN)
- Free parking available for travelers
