Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Pediatric Operating Room position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of OR experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Pediatric OR unit serving patients from newborn to 17 years of age in a 30-bed OR at a short-term acute care, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and major teaching hospital
• Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (6:45 AM - 3:15 PM)
• On-call responsibilities required, including rotating weeknight and weekend call on a self-scheduled basis
• Charting performed in Cerner; Accudose and SBAR also used
• No floating to sister facilities
• Free on-site parking available for travelers

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required (WV pending license accepted for consideration, but must be active prior to start)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience and 2 years of OR-specific RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Proficiency in both scrub and circulate roles required
• Pediatric OR and general OR experience required
• Experience within a pediatric setting and women's specialty preferred
• Robotic surgical experience preferred
• IV start skills preferred
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidate must have a permanent address at least 75 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent employees of CAMC are not eligible to return as a traveler until 2 years after their last day of permanent employment
• Flu vaccine is required for all personnel during flu season (October 1 – March 31); a documented medical allergy verified by an allergist or physician is the only accepted exemption
• Bright blue scrubs required
• Schedule cannot be blocked and must flex to meet the needs of the unit
• RTO is considered on a reasonable basis; when requesting time off during the assignment, extending the contract to fulfill the full 13-week commitment is appreciated
• The facility is a member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) and includes a Level IV NICU
