Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital, requiring prior neuro experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Neuro ICU unit caring for patients with stroke, neurosurgery, neuro-specific diagnoses, and complex spine conditions
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Specialized procedures include external ventricular drains (EVDs) and therapeutic thermoregulation
- Epic EMR experience required
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- Floating required within skillset
- One holiday must be worked per 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active VA state RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Prior neuro ICU experience required
- Large Level I or Level II facility experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response and Code teams
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care, port access and management, arterial line management, and PICC line management
- Experience managing continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Neuro-specific skills: CVA/acute stroke management, EVD management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy, and post-neurosurgery care
- Respiratory skills: ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ETT/NT suctioning
- Two professional references required for consideration
- PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
