Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an OR position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring strong multi-specialty surgical experience and a minimum of 2 years in the OR.
Details
- Work in a 15-bed OR suite (2 of which are CVOR) at a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
- Primary specialty is General/Trauma OR with backup coverage for Ortho, Neuro, and ENT service lines
- Patient population includes General, Trauma, Neuro, Vascular (including Endovascular), Ortho/Spine, Total Joints, ENT, GYN, Urology, Plastics, Breast, and Eye cases, with minimal pediatric cases (typically Ortho)
- RN role is circulator only — no scrub tech duties
- 1:1 patient ratio
- 10-hour day shifts starting at 6:30 AM, 40 hours per week
- No floating to other units
- Weekend rotation is on-call; on-call schedule includes one weekday per week and one weekend per month (Friday 3:00 PM–7:00 AM, Saturday 24 hours, Sunday 24 hours) with a 30-minute response time requirement
- EMR: Cerner (experience preferred)
- Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of OR circulator experience required; candidates with only 1 year of experience will not be considered
- Strong hands-on experience required across multiple case types: Trauma (no burns), Neuro, General, Vascular, Endovascular, Ortho/Spine, Total Joints, ENT, GYN, Urology, Robotics (General and Neuro), Plastics, Breast, and Eye
- Robotics experience preferred, specifically Robotic Mazor and/or DaVinci XI
- SSN, DOB (day and month), 1 professional reference from a charge nurse or above within the past 12 months, and copies of certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they have at least 2 years of OR experience
- Former permanent staff of this facility must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- 2-week orientation on day shift; buddy call is expected during orientation
- Schedule is determined by department needs; time-off requests must be approved by the manager
- One holiday per contract is expected to be worked
- Green scrubs are required and will be provided by the facility
- An interview is required prior to any offer being extended
