Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down/Oncology Unit position in Michigan, requiring 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience and ONCC or ONS certification preferred.
Details
- General medical/oncology step down unit setting
- Patient population includes general med and oncology step down patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff when ratios flex higher; chemo admissions reduce assignment ratios
- Administers chemotherapy via IV and performs IV starts
- Equipment includes Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
- Epic used for documentation
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required; weekends are assigned by the manager/scheduler, with remaining days available for self-scheduling
- Float required to other med/surg areas including AU and ER to care for med/surg patients
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- ONCC or ONS certification highly preferred; pending ONS will be considered, but ONC must be in hand
- Minimum 2 years of PCU/step down experience required
- Experience administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs
- Epic EMR experience
Additional Information
- Charge RN is not typically included in patient assignments
- No RTO requests will be considered for July 3rd–5th
- Candidates must be available for the full first two weeks of the assignment
- Any RTO requests after offer acceptance must be discussed directly with the on-site manager
- Block scheduling may be accommodated; include any specific scheduling requests when applying
