Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down/Oncology Unit position in Michigan, requiring 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience and ONCC or ONS certification preferred.

Details

• General medical/oncology step down unit setting
• Patient population includes general med and oncology step down patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6, with support staff when ratios flex higher; chemo admissions reduce assignment ratios
• Administers chemotherapy via IV and performs IV starts
• Equipment includes Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• Epic used for documentation
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required; weekends are assigned by the manager/scheduler, with remaining days available for self-scheduling
• Float required to other med/surg areas including AU and ER to care for med/surg patients
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• ONCC or ONS certification highly preferred; pending ONS will be considered, but ONC must be in hand
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/step down experience required
• Experience administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs
• Epic EMR experience

Additional Information

• Charge RN is not typically included in patient assignments
• No RTO requests will be considered for July 3rd–5th
• Candidates must be available for the full first two weeks of the assignment
• Any RTO requests after offer acceptance must be discussed directly with the on-site manager
• Block scheduling may be accommodated; include any specific scheduling requests when applying
