Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at an acute care hospital in Florida, requiring a minimum of 2.5 years of ED experience and prior travel nursing assignments.

Details

Emergency Department (ED) position at a 210-bed acute care hospital
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Patient ratio of 1:6
Every other weekend required
Floating required within scope of practice
Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis
Meditech EMR in use
Free parking available in any unrestricted space

Requirements

Active FL RN license or compact RN license required
Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and PALS
TNCC certification preferred
Minimum 2.5 years of ED experience required
Minimum 1 year of neuro/stroke experience required
Minimum 2 prior travel nursing assignments required
Experience with Level 1 resuscitation patients required
Must reside more than 30 miles from the facility

Additional Information

Experience caring for Level 1 resuscitation patients is a core part of this role
Scrub color is open, but no t-shirts, sweatshirts, or apparel with logos from other organizations
Holiday coverage is required: if 1–2 holidays fall within the assignment, traveler must work 1 holiday eve and 1 holiday; if 3 holidays fall within the assignment, traveler must work 1 holiday eve and 2 holidays
RTO is limited to no more than 10 days and requires extending the assignment by 2 additional weeks; no RTO during the first or last week of the assignment
All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration

Most of the physicians (around 80%) are pleasant and collaborative, which makes day-to-day interactions smoother. The absence of trauma cases can also contribute to a more predictable and less high-intensity workflow.

Cons

Management tends to micromanage, which can impact autonomy. Additionally, when case volume is low, staff may be sent home early, making it difficult to consistently complete scheduled hours. Supplies are tightly controlled through the PICS system, which can sometimes slow down workflow.
