Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II with 2+ years of experience scrubbing across cardiac, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and EP procedures for a 13-week travel contract in Michigan.
Details
- Hospital-based Cardiac Cath/EP Lab setting
- Full-time schedule with 4x10-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM, with one variable weekday off per week
- On-call required: approximately 4 weeknights per month (5:00 PM–6:30 AM) and 1 weekend per month (5:00 PM Friday–6:30 AM Monday)
- No weekend shifts outside of on-call rotation
- Procedures include diagnostic and interventional heart catheterizations, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and EP procedures
- Proficiency with extraction devices such as AngioJet, Rotoblator, and laser revascularization devices is expected
- Knowledge of the Merge Hemo documentation system is preferred
- May float to a nearby sister hospital
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a cath/EP lab required
- Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Sciences program (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or equivalent)
- RCIS or RCES preferred; ARRT (with CI or VI) accepted with cath lab scrub experience performing heart caths with intervention
- Active Michigan license required if applicable
- BLS (AHA) required; ACLS (AHA) required within 6 months of hire
- Must be able to scrub for all types of cardiac, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and EP procedures
- Ability to wear lead aprons up to 5 lbs. for extended periods and scrub in a sterile environment for an undetermined amount of time
- Must be able to assist in lifting and transferring patients with team assistance
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include monitoring diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, recognizing and responding to ECG changes and lethal arrhythmias, and performing cardiac outputs, O2 saturations, and ACT measurements
- Expected to demonstrate knowledge of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology, as well as cardiac pharmacology and hemodynamic parameters
- Role may include assisting with orientation and training of Cath Lab staff and participation in relevant committees
- Online orientation modules must be completed with a passing score prior to the start date, typically done onsite approximately one week before
- COVID vaccination is mandatory for this facility
- Any time-off requests should be disclosed prior to acceptance of an assignment; requests made after an offer is extended will be subject to manager approval once the assignment begins
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
