Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, with night shift and every other weekend availability.
Details
- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of an academic medical center
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- 15-bed unit with an average daily census of 10 patients
- Patient ratios of 1:1, up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients
- Common diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (heart blocks, rhythm disruptions), MI, pulmonary hypertension, advanced therapy workups (LVAD, heart transplants), mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and hypertensive urgency/emergency
- Specialized procedures include bedside central line and A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, and CRRT
- Specialized equipment includes Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, and CCO monitors
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within the specialty to lower-acuity units as needed
- No scheduled on-call shifts required
Requirements
- Active RN license for the state of Maryland (standard or compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- CCRN certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- Experience with specialized CVICU equipment including Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, and cooling devices
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered for candidates with strong CVICU skills and experience
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Any time-off requests should be disclosed upfront during the consideration process
