Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of outpatient experience for a 13-week travel contract at an outpatient therapy facility in Ellsworth, ME.
Details
- Outpatient therapy facility setting serving a rural community
- Patient population includes mostly adults and school-aged children (non-pediatric developmental diagnoses)
- Common diagnoses include post-orthopedic surgery, post-spinal surgery, geriatrics, work injuries, and neurological imbalance
- EMR: Cerner PowerChart
- Preferred schedule is five 8-hour shifts per day, with flexibility for four 10-hour shifts; hours can be somewhat variable
- No floating, no weekend rotation, and no on-call requirements
- Facility is closed on major holidays; coverage may be required for approximately 50% of minor holidays
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of outpatient physical therapy experience required
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Therapy required
- Current Maine PT license or compact license required (license required if applicable)
- Current BLS certification required
- Experience with manual therapy, exercise science, patient education, and adaptive equipment (walkers, canes, crutches, etc.) required
- Full SSN required for consideration
- Two professional references within the past year required; at least one must be from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse — peer references are not accepted
- Copies of all certifications required for consideration
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Flu vaccination required for clearance to start
- Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME (489 State St, Bangor, ME 04401) to be eligible
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity are not eligible
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of outpatient adults and school-aged children across a range of orthopedic, neurological, and general PT diagnoses
- Department team includes 4 PTs, 2 PTAs, OT, SLP, 2 patient service representatives, and at least one assistant supervisor on-site; manager is available by phone
- Orientation includes a new employee orientation (NEO) followed by the remainder of the first week to 1.5 weeks of on-site training, with a gradual patient load increase while partnered with a staff member
- All RTO requests must be submitted to and approved by the manager
- Any solid color scrubs or business casual attire are accepted
- Free parking is available on-site
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Medical exemptions only are accepted for flu vaccination; a minimum of 2 weeks must be allowed for review by the facility's approval committee
