Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position at a Magnet, Level I Trauma, teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of neuro ICU experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift schedule (7p–7:30a), 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Neuro ICU unit within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,266 staffed beds)
- Patient population includes ischemic strokes (post-thrombectomy, post-tPA), hemorrhagic strokes, subdural/epidural hematomas, neurotrauma (GSW, MVC, spinal cord injuries), seizure disorders, neuromuscular disorders, and CNS infections
- 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Procedures include management of vasoactive medications, central lines, arterial lines, and ICP monitoring (EVDs and bolts)
- Additional procedures include CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, and spinal precautions
- Specialized equipment includes EVDs and bolt monitors
- Charting is performed in Epic; prior Epic experience required
- Every other weekend requirement
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirement
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active MO state RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a neuro setting required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Preferred certifications/education: TNCC, BSN, and 10 hours of stroke education
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam; EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of BJC facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- 10 hours of stroke education will be completed during orientation; NIHSS (if taken within the year) can satisfy up to 3 hours, and a new or renewal ACLS (if taken within the year) may also contribute hours
- Scrub color required: Navy Blue
- This is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital
- Monthly parking passes are available at various lots and garages near the facility; costs and availability vary by location
