Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Details
- 13-week travel contract in the Intermediate Care (IMC)/Stepdown unit of a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours (1845–0715); 4x12 schedule may be accommodated upon request
- Patient population includes telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU, and general stepdown cases
- Specialized skills required include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, procedural sedation, and ventilator care
- Additional clinical scope includes post-cardiac cath/surgery, pre/post hemodialysis, craniotomy, CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, and respiratory management (tracheostomy, chest tubes, HFNC, BiPAP)
- Charting performed in Cerner
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required at time of consideration; pending licensure not accepted
- Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; RQI AHA cards not accepted
- ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or stepdown settings required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, blood product administration, heparin protocols, and wound care required
- Cerner experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I Trauma experience preferred
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO of up to 5 non-holiday days is generally accommodated; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Scrub color: any solid color
- Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
- Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
