Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position at a major academic medical center in Chapel Hill, NC, working night shifts in a high-acuity cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care environment.

Details

• 40-bed Cardiovascular and Thoracic Critical Care unit within a large academic medical center
• Part of a dedicated Center for Heart and Vascular Care
• Patient population includes post-surgical cardiac and thoracic cases: coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart and lung transplants, LVAD, ECMO, heart valve repair/replacement, aortic/thoracic aneurysm repairs, and complex esophageal, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
• No on-call required
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Every other holiday (EOH) required

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS (AHA or ARC) and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited nursing school required; BSN or MSN preferred
• Experience caring for patients with complex, high-acuity problems
• Two professional references required for consideration

• Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation using the nursing process in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
• Nurses are expected to anticipate discharge needs and build therapeutic relationships with patients and families
• Position supports professional growth, participation in performance improvement activities, and adherence to healthcare standards
• Background check and drug screen are required; candidates should be prepared to complete drug screening promptly upon accepting an offer
