Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring CVICU experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac equipment including ECMO and Impella.

Details

• Level I Trauma, academic teaching hospital with 554 staffed beds
• CVICU unit caring for complex cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical patients
• Patient diagnoses include CABG, aortic aneurysm repair/dissection, fem-pop bypass, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, endovascular repair, heart failure, MODS, and sepsis
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Weekends required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• May be floated to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED, and PACU to care for admitted patients
• Charting in Cerner
• Black scrubs required
• No parking fee

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required
• Pending license accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• CVICU experience preferred
• Proficiency with advanced equipment including CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz catheters, and arterial lines required
• Experience with bedside procedures including tracheostomy/PEG, CRRT, chest tubes, Foley insertion, and NG tubes required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with appropriate documentation

Additional Information

• Care for post-operative open heart surgery patients and complex cardiovascular cases in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Equipment used includes CRRT, Hemosphere, Bladderscanner, Cortrak, ultrasound, Philips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, GlideScope, Pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and BairHugger
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval
• Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached the one-year mark are required to take a 6-month break before returning
