Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU - Cardiac position at a Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent cardiac experience and both Kansas and Missouri RN licensure.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a 456-bed tertiary care hospital that is a 5-time Magnet Award recipient, Level 1 Trauma, and academic teaching facility
  • Cardiac PCU patient population including Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, and Post Cardiac Angiogram cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, including a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Charting via Epic EMR
  • Floating between departments, units, and facilities may be regularly required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Free on-site parking

Requirements

  • Active MO RN license (or Compact) required; both Kansas and Missouri RN licenses must be in hand prior to consideration due to floating requirements
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac PCU/stepdown specialty experience required
  • At least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months, with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Required clinical skills include: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management (no titration), vasoactive drip management (no titration), heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, central line/PICC/port access and management, blood product administration, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
  • Preferred skills include sheath removal and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • 2 professional references required: one must be at the supervisor level or above, and one may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
  • SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are not eligible for this position
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment
  • RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • Holiday shift coverage and Charge RN assignments may be required as needed
  • Pre-employment online modules are required as part of onboarding compliance (approximately 10–15 hours total)
  • No pending licenses accepted; all required licensure must be in hand at time of consideration
