Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in a Medical Oncology unit, caring for adult and geriatric solid tumor cancer patients with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.

Details

• Inpatient Medical Oncology unit (17 James) within a cancer hospital and research center
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients across all solid tumor cancer types, including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, esophageal, and patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy
• Unit supports patients throughout the full cancer journey — from new diagnosis and active treatment through end-of-life care transition
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on census
• Telemetry monitoring is a core component of this role
• Rotating Day/Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (Days: 7:00–19:30; Nights: 19:00–7:30) — shift assignments are evaluated every 4-week scheduling period
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling is offered
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units

Requirements

• Active RN license in Ohio (OH) or a valid Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry interpretation and telemetry monitoring skills required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred

Additional Information

• Orientation begins with the first week on Mon–Fri dayshift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Self-scheduling requests are submitted prior to the unit balancing and posting the final schedule
• Candidates may change representation at this facility without requiring a 30-day break between assignments (does not apply to Sterile Processing Techs)
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
• All time-off and scheduling requests must be disclosed upfront
