Description
American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist for a cardiac catheterization lab role requiring RCIS certification and experience with advanced structural heart and vascular interventional procedures.
Details
- Works in a cardiac catheterization lab with 3-4 rooms including cath, vascular, EP, and hybrid rooms
- Equipment includes GE machines in most labs and a Siemens unit in the vascular lab
- Procedures include TAVR, PFO closures, Watchman, EKOs, atherectomy (CSI, RotaPro, laser), angiography, and balloon/stenting
- Lab is equipped with balloon pump, Impella, IVUS, and iFR/FFR capabilities
- Typical caseload is 4-8 cath cases per day, with occasional higher volume when running multiple rooms simultaneously
- Primarily diagnostic and interventional cardiac and vascular cases
- Day shift, Monday through Friday
- At least 14 days of on-call required per contract
- Local candidates are accepted
Requirements
- Current RCIS certification required
- Current BLS and ACLS required
- Vocational/Technical Degree in Radiology Technology, RCIS, or an accredited Electrophysiology program required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience with advanced cardiac and vascular interventional procedures including structural heart interventions
- Proficiency with balloon pump, Impella, IVUS, and iFR/FFR equipment
- Ability to recognize normal and abnormal ECGs and monitor multiple data sources simultaneously
- Ability to calculate drug dosages and administer medications appropriately
- Must be able to lift and position patients as needed
- Ability to work flexible schedules including on-call rotation
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Proof of address, 1 supervisory reference, copy of certifications, Nursys license, full SSN, and DOB required for consideration
- License required if applicable
Additional Information
- Assists cardiologists and vascular physicians with catheter-based cardiac and vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Assists with cardiac electrophysiology studies and ablation procedures including equipment calibration, patient prep, and data collection
- Responsible for maintaining a safe radiological and electrical environment in the lab, including proper use of all PPE such as lead apron and thyroid shield
- Manages supplies using FIFO method and supports accurate procedure billing
- Must demonstrate strong analytical skills to assess patient condition and make quick, accurate decisions under pressure
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and medical staff
- Pass/fail EKG test administered on the first day with two attempts allowed; study guides will be provided
