Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position in Chapel Hill, NC, requiring an active NC or compact RN license and ACLS certification for a night shift contract.

Details

• 40-bed Cardiothoracic ICU within a large academic medical center's cardiovascular and thoracic critical care program
• Patient population includes post-surgical cases such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart and lung transplants, LVAD, ECMO, aortic/thoracic aneurysm repairs, heart valve repair and replacement, and complex esophageal, thoracic, and vascular surgeries
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hrs/week)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Every other holiday (EOH) required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active RN license in the state of North Carolina or a compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) and ACLS required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of nursing required; BSN or MSN preferred
• Experience in a cardiovascular or thoracic ICU setting strongly applicable given patient population

Additional Information

• Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to address complex patient care needs, discharge planning, and patient/family education
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Background check and drug screen required; candidates should be prepared to report to the lab for drug screening within 24 hours of committing to the position
