Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position at a rural acute care hospital in North Dakota, requiring 2 years of L&D experience and active ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in a rural environment, located more than 1 hour from the nearest NICU with limited ancillary services
- LDRP unit with 4 L&D beds and 7 postpartum beds
- Patient population includes laboring patients ≥35 weeks gestation and mother/baby couplets
- Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: Labor 1:1–2, Postpartum 1:2–3
- RNs are required to titrate drips, including Magnesium, Oxytocin, Zofran, LR, and various postpartum medications
- Neonatal respiratory equipment in use, including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow; RNs assist with neonatal vent support
- RNs circulate for the baby during C-sections; Surgery manages the procedure
- EFM system: OB Trace Vue
- EMR: MEDITECH
- 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights (7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
- Block scheduling; self-scheduling not available
- Every third weekend required
- Holiday coverage required based on availability
- Floating to Med/Surg or ED for 1:1 patient sitting as needed
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active ND or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP — pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
- BSN not required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health
- A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Additional Information
- This is a rural hospital setting; successful candidates should be highly independent, team-oriented, and comfortable working with limited resources and provider availability
- RNs receive 3 shifts (36 hours) of unit-specific orientation
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Facial hair policy: clinicians with facial hair must pass an N95 fit test (3M Aura 1860 or 3M 1870+); if unable to pass and facial hair cannot be removed, the contract may be subject to cancellation
- RTO of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be requested upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
- No clinical involvement roles available on this unit
